Corpus Christi Granada 2026: Complete Guide to the Festival and Bullfighting
Granada is no ordinary city, and Corpus Christi is no ordinary festival. That’s why we recommend this mini guide: because watching bullfights at La Monumental de Frascuelo is just the excuse to discover and enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.
If you’re thinking of getting tickets for Corpus Christi 2026 in Granada, you’re in for a treat: you’re about to experience one of Andalusia’s most traditional and characterful festivals. But be warned — Corpus in Granada is not just about the bullring; it’s a ritual that begins with your first morning coffee and ends (if you can last that long) with a late-night broth at the fairground. Here’s your roadmap so you don’t miss a single moment — inside or outside the arena.
MORNING: From Incense to Satire
In Granada, Corpus mornings are meant for walking. Forget the car and let yourself wander through the historic centre.
1. The Fashion Barometer (Wednesday 3rd)
You have to see La Tarasca. It’s a mannequin riding a dragon that parades through the streets at midday. The creature itself isn’t the point — it’s the outfit. Each year, a local designer dresses her, and the whole city debates whether the look is a triumph or a disaster.

2. The Scent of Thursday (4th June)
This is the main day. The city fills with the scent of juniper and mastranzo (aromatic herbs covering the streets). The procession is strikingly solemn. Watching the Custodia of Isabella the Catholic emerge from the Cathedral is a powerful visual spectacle, whether you’re religious or not.
3. The Carocas in Bib-Rambla
Head to the square near the Cathedral to read the quintillas. These are satirical verses accompanied by illustrations, poking fun at politicians and reflecting the city’s concerns with plenty of malafollá — Granada’s famously sharp and ironic sense of humour.

LUNCH: The “Pre-Bullfight” Ritual
For any bullfighting enthusiast, the stomach must be prepared near the arena. The area around the Plaza de Toros (Doctor Olóriz) is buzzing with atmosphere. Ordering rabo de toro (oxtail stew) is a must — in Granada it’s cooked with a local wine that gives it a rich, silky finish. If you fancy something lighter, go for baby broad beans with Trevélez ham.

AFTERNOON: The Trumpets Sound (7:30 pm)
The 2026 fair promises a stellar line-up. With Morante and Roca Rey headlining, El Fandi defending his home ground, and artists such as Juan Ortega and Pablo Aguado — alongside top figures like Castella, Perera and Luque — the programme is outstanding. Prestigious breeders such as Cuvillo, Álvaro Núñez and Domingo Hernández complete the bill. Expectations are sky-high. Granada’s bullring is comfortable, with acoustics so clear you can hear even the bull’s breathing.
NIGHT: From the Arena to the Fairground (or Sacromonte)
After leaving the bullring, if you want to keep the conversation about bullfighting going, you have two options:

1. The Fairground (Almanjáyar)
This is the heart of the festivities. The casetas (marquees) are your refuge. Look for ones with their own kitchens and order a vinillo de Los Maños (a fair classic) or a rebujito. Expect sevillanas, lanterns and non-stop celebration until sunrise.
2. The Magic of Sacromonte
If you prefer something more intimate, head to the caves. Watching a traditional zambra flamenco performance with the Alhambra illuminated in the background is the perfect way to end the day. It’s flamenco in its rawest and most authentic form.
Golden tip: In Granada, tapas come free with your beer — you don’t order them, they just arrive. If you go bar-hopping around the bullring area, three beers are enough to fill you up. Just make sure you leave room for dessert: a pionono from Santa Fe.
